Fresken in der Kirche

Fresken in der Kirche
THE FRESCOES
From the perspective of iconography, the subject matter of the new church's frescoes relates to the Servites, while the frescoes mostly portray Marian images and natural themes from the pilgrimage.

The church interior with its fresco adornment is a unified work of art of national standing, and it attests to the Baroque idea of a uniformly designed church interior.

Virtually the entire decoration was painted in an illusionist manner to the highest standards out of the necessity at the time of saving costs, yet it is nonetheless a testimony to the great ability of the painter Josef Adam Mölk (1714-1794), who did much for the Servites. He was a characteristic painter of the late Austrian Baroque period.
